Come in
The Nest is for people who have signed up. If you have an invite link, open it. Otherwise put in the email you signed up with and we will send you a way in.
Inside, for members
- Feed what geese are saying, and news from the organisers
- Rooms live chat between calls
- Events calls, walks and suppers, with “I’m coming” in one tap
- Map who is near you, by town, for those who choose to be on it
Not signed up yet? Join Wild Geese first; the Nest is for people on the list. Something wrong? Report a concern, no sign-in needed.
Invite someone
Know someone on the list? Put in their name and email and we will email them a way in.
Welcome
Pick your handle. It is your address here and on the wider fediverse, as @handle@wildgeese.app , so it cannot be changed afterwards.
Posts
Live chat between calls. Your handle sits by what you write; each room says how long it keeps lines.
The four agreements
If something is wrong
- Report a concernFor anyone's safety, or about the very person you would have to tell. It reaches a person outside the Flock. No password needed.
- If anyone is in danger right nowCall 911. The Report a concern page lists the crisis lines too.
Using the Nest
- Who reads your postsEvery member of the Nest. They go further, to Mastodon and the wider fediverse, only if you turn that on in Settings, and then other servers keep copies. Either way, anything sensitive goes on Signal, not here.
- Rooms are for membersLive chat between calls. Each room says how long it keeps lines (30 days unless its maker set longer); a reported line is kept until the report is closed.
- The map is yours to setOnly signed-in members see it, and only members who tick “Show me on the members’ map” are on it, by town, never by address. Change it any time on the Map page.
- EventsLeads and admins host them. Tap “I’m coming” and the host sees your name; everyone else sees only a rough number, like “3-5 coming”.

How to reach you
Yours alone until you choose who sees each one. Never the open web.

Reports
What members have flagged. Hide takes the post out of every feed; Dismiss closes the report and leaves it.
Blocked servers
A whole server, not one person. Suspend drops everything from them, sends them nothing, and deletes what of theirs we already hold. Silence keeps their posts but takes them out of From elsewhere. Note only changes nothing and records that we looked. The reason is required, because a block nobody can explain later is a block nobody can defend. Blocking a server blocks everything under it, so name one server — never a shared ending like co.uk, which thousands of unrelated servers sit beneath.
Mastodon and the wider fediverse
Following elsewhere
Follow anyone on Mastodon or the wider fediverse by their address. Their posts show up under From elsewhere for the whole Nest.
